Saturn at opposition. \n What does it mean for Saturn to be at opposition? \nSaturn is at opposition when it lies opposite from the Sun in the sky. When at opposition\, Saturn is also at perigee – its closest point to Earth.  This makes it appear its biggest and brightest\, giving incredible potential for viewing. \nKeep an eye on your emails\, RSVP invitations will be going out soon!

There will be live music and activities starting at 4pm\, followed by the movie at dusk. \nLowell Observatory will be there every Saturday to offer out-of-this-world science activities\, space trivia\, and solar viewing! There will be a different science topic each week. Stop by to add some educational fun to your movie night. We’ll see you on the square!

DESCRIPTION:  \n\nPhoto: San Francisco Volcanic Field | Credit: Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History\, Global Volcanism Program \nGEODES (Geophysical Exploration of the Dynamics and Evolution of the Solar System) is a team within the NASA Solar System Exploration Research Virtual Institute. They investigate the Moon\, near-Earth asteroids\, and the moons of Mars with geophysics methods to enable the exploration of their surfaces. Join GEODES Principal Investigator Dr. Nick Schmerr for a talk at Lowell Observatory about how his team’s research at Flagstaff’s San Francisco volcanic fields will help the astronauts of the Artemis mission prepare to explore the Moon. \n  \n*This talk is included with general admission.
