SUMMARY:Astronomy on Tap: Unraveling the Solar Surface
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Mother Road Brewing Co. on the 26th at 6:30pm for this month’s Astronomy on Tap!\n\nJacob Hyden will be talking about his studies of the motions on the surface of the Sun! The Sun’s surface is constantly in motion like all other stars. We will see how using high-resolution observations of the Sun’s surface can help estimate other stellar motions. This stellar motion can then be used to find Earth-sized exoplanets!\n\nWe’ll hold trivia after the talk\, where you’ll have the chance to win some fun prizes. As always\, there will be plenty of Mother Road brews on tap to enjoy. We’ll see you there!

SUMMARY:Astronomy on Tap: Geology\, Maps\, and the Moon
DESCRIPTION:Join Lowell Observatory and Mother Road Brewing Co. on December 17th at 6:30pm for Astronomy on Tap! Listen to fascinating science talks\, play trivia to win out-of-this-world prizes\, and of course\, enjoy Mother Road brews on tap.\n\nThis month’s speaker is USGS geologist Jim Skinner\, who will talk about planetary geologic mapping and astronaut training! Planetary geologic mapping plays a pivotal role in preparing for NASA’s Artemis missions\, which will return humans to the Moon. Advanced mapping techniques guide astronaut training and mission planning\, from selecting landing sites to navigating the lunar surface. This talk explores the science behind creating these maps\, the challenges of training astronauts to interpret them\, and how Flagstaff’s history of lunar preparation connects to the future of space exploration. Learn how the next steps on the Moon are being charted right here in Flagstaff! We’ll see you there!
