Experience stargazing, reimagined—only at the Giovale Open Deck Observatory.
This private, personalized expedition across the stars lasts 90 minutes and offers an exclusive opportunity to view the cosmos through six advanced telescopes. Taking place entirely outdoors to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19, this VIP experience allows you to choose which celestial bodies to observe and includes a laser-guided voyage across the night sky.*
Your VIP experience takes place at the Giovale Open Deck Observatory (GODO), a state-of-the-art observation plaza and your private window to the cosmos for the evening. Your path will be lit by a sidewalk lined with luminescent glow stones as you take in the spectacular views of Flagstaff’s dark skies overhead. The GODO’s six telescopes will be aimed at the sky, waiting to show you the wonders of the cosmos.
As a private guest, you will have exclusive access to the GODO’s suite of six cutting-edge telescopes: four that offer eye-to-eyepiece viewing and two that display the cosmos on HD monitors in vivid detail. All have been hand-selected for unveiling the wonders of the universe to the public. Our staff will show you the best the night sky has to offer, including any types of objects that VIPs would like to see. During this VIP experience, your personal educator will use a high-powered laser to point out prominent stars and constellations while sharing epic tales of how the stars first formed.
Guests will have the entire GODO plaza to themselves during their Premium Access experience, including its various exhibits. Masks are required for viewing, and telescope eyepieces will be sanitized between use by staff and guests. Our specially trained Lowell educators will practice physical distancing throughout the duration of your time at the GODO.
This VIP experience is so much more than a stargazing session—it’s a guided journey through the cosmos that allows you to choose your own destinations. As you learn about the various telescopes and of the GODO and the constellations in the sky above, you will be told a scientific story about the universe.
To keep groups separate, please do not arrive more than 15 minutes in advance of your scheduled start time. Masks are required for viewing, and telescope eyepieces will be sanitized between use by staff. Our specially trained educators will practice physical distancing throughout the duration of your time at Lowell Observatory.
Be among the first to experience wonder at Lowell Observatory in this exclusive, cautious approach to reopening.
