Force & Motion: Newton’s 3rd Law
Children will learn about force and motion by building rockets to demonstrate Newton’s 3rd Law
February 3 & February 17
Children will participate in activities to learn about constellations and changes in the night sky.
March 3 & March 17
Children will construct a homemade density tester to learn about the properties of matter.
April 7 & April 21
Children will perform investigations to understand seasonal changes.
May 5 & May 19
Thermodynamics: Energy Transfer
Children will perform investigations to understand the causes of seasonal changes.
June 2 & June 16
The Sun as a Star
Children will learn about our closest star, the Sun, and view it safely through a solar telescope.
2018 Preschool Camp
Created for children ages 3 to 5, these activity-based, hands-on camps explore science and include STEM elements. Camps are held on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
These 90-minute camps — led by Lowell educators — take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Parents are able to explore topics in physics and astronomy with their children. Activities include science investigations, games, story time, music, engineering, art, and more! Parent attendance is MANDATORY. Maximum 12 children per camp.

Electricity and Magnetism: Simple Circuits
Children will construct simple circuits and observe how they work.
August 4 & August 18
Phases of the Moon
Children will create a lunar model to understand why the moon goes through phases.
September 1 & September 15
Telescopes: Light and Optics
Children will build homemade telescopes and learn to operate them.
October 6 & October 20
The Planets in Our Solar System: Dwarf Planets
Children will perform various experiments to learn about conditions on dwarf planets.
November 3 & November 17
Other Solar System Objects: Moons
Children will investigate the many natural satellites in our solar system.
December 1 & December 15
Space Travel: Europa and Titan
Children will build a rover and simulate space travel to other worlds.
