Explore Distant Planets with “Strange New Worlds”

Have you ever wondered what lies beyond our solar system? Are there planets like Earth out there—or even life? Lowell Observatory’s newest live program, “Strange New Worlds,” takes you on an unforgettable journey through the cutting-edge science of exoplanets: planets orbiting stars beyond our Sun.

A Unique Planetarium Experience, Under the Real Night Sky

This 30-minute presentation takes place in the Dark Sky Planetarium, a one-of-a-kind, open-air venue located on the rooftop of Lowell’s new Astronomy Discovery Center. Opened in November of 2024, this world-class facility redefines the planetarium experience—offering live, guided programs under Flagstaff’s internationally renowned dark skies.

Under the pristine dark sky, a Lowell educator leads a live exploration into the science and discovery of strange new worlds—how astronomers detect them, what makes them potentially habitable, and what these distant planets might be like.
