Reader’s Digest Ranks Lowell as the Most Historic Landmark in Arizona

For an out-of-this-world experience, check out Lowell Observatory, the spot where Pluto was first discovered in 1930. Now one of “The World’s 100 Most Important Places,” according to Time Magazine, it’s open for tours and nightly stargazing. When it’s your turn at the telescope, here are iconic constellations to look for in the sky. Trust us, you’ll be seeing stars.

Amanda Tarlton, Reader’s Digest

We here on Mars Hill are honored that Lowell Observatory is featured in an article on the Reader’s Digest website! The article, entitled “The Most Historic Landmark in Every State,” lists off the most historically significant place in each of the 50 states according to freelance writer Amanda Tarlton, who has had her work featured in Taste of Home, Reader’s Digest, Scary Mommy, MindBodyGreen, and Well & Good.

Within the section about Lowell, Amanda links to another article on the Reader’s Digest website entitled “Can You Spot All 14 Iconic Constellations In These Pictures?”, a list of some of the most well-known constellations in the night sky and offers tips on how to spot them. We recommend checking it out if you’re planning a visit to the observatory in the future!

We’d like to thank Reader’s Digest for recognizing the observatory as an important historical travel destination. The article is a great read for any history buff looking to check some storied destinations off their summer bucket list before the fall season approaches!
