Host your private event in one of our campus's halls and meeting spaces.

Hosting a meeting, conference, or other gathering? Choose from a large outdoor area, a medium-sized conference room, or a small meeting space. Both indoor spaces feature a large screen and speaker system that can be used for multimedia presentations, video game tournaments, film screenings, and more.

Astronomy Discovery Center Venues

  • Great Planetary Hall

    A stunning centerpiece for large corporate gatherings

    ● Accommodates up to 300 guests lecture style and 150 guests for dinner or receptions

    ● Available for weddings (please request wedding pricing), conferences, receptions, meetings, workshops, presentations, lectures and soirees.

    ● 6 hour minimum rental

  • Atrium

    At the heart of this space is the Origins exhibit, an artistic representation of the universe’s evolution — from the Big Bang to the emergence of life on Earth.

    ● Regular programming is not available on Tuesdays as Lowell Observatory is
    closed to the public.

  • Cosmic Classroom

    An adaptable space for team meetings and workshops

    Seats up to 40

    ● Accommodates up to 40 guests
    ● $250/hour
    ● Available for meetings, conferences, parties & retreats
    ● Includes table & chairs set up, screen & IT support, Zoom capabilities
    ● 3 hour minimum rental
    ● Available Sunday-Saturday 8am-10pm

  • Conference Room

    For focused discussions and executive meetings

    ● 155 heated seats
    ● $600/hour
    ● Minimum 1 hour rental
    ● Includes IT support

Venue Details

Venue access includes set up & take down time and when you and vendors can arrive. Please take this into account with your timeframe when booking your reservation. We do not provide event coordination at this time. Please plan accordingly for your decorating set up and take down.

**All rentals that include food and beverages will require event insurance and a Title 4 Certified bartender if serving alcohol.

Outside catering allowed. PlanetX by Jitters available onsite in the Astronomy Discovery Center.

All rentals will be subject to 2.786% tax.

A 25% non-refundable deposit is due at time of booking for all rentals and packages with the remaining balance due 60 days prior to the event.

Cancellation Policy:

Lowell Observatory reserves the right to cancel the event at any time. If the deposit/payment is not received by the agreed upon date, the reservation will automatically be void, and the venue will become available for others to reserve. All cancellations must be done in writing and emailed to events@lowell.edu.

The following will apply to those who cancel their event: 31-59 days prior to event – 50% refunded (minus the deposit) 0-30 days prior to event – 0% refunded

  • Hendricks Center for Planetary Studies Conference Room

    Located centrally on our campus, the Hendricks Center for Planetary Studies conference room is ideal for business meetings, retreats, or small birthday parties.

  • Astrolab at the Giovale Open Deck Observatory

    ● Accommodates up to 10 guests
    ● $100/hour

    ● Available Sunday-Saturday 8am-4pm

  • Historic Grounds

    ● Accommodates up to 100 guests
    ● Off Season $250/hour

  • Giclas Lecture Hall

Private Telescope Viewing

Private telescope viewing available at the Dwarf Planet Patio, Rooftop Terrace or Historic Grounds –

$225/hr with a telescope specialist

*A minimum 6 weeks notice before the event date is required to book.

  • Dyer Telescope/Astrophotography Package

    ● Up to 8 guests
    ● 2 day admission to Lowell Observatory
    ● Night 1 – Astrophotography Course – 2 hours,
    6:30pm-8:30pm (winter, 11pm-1am (summer) **This night
