On August 27th, 2023, Lowell Observatory will be hosting a member-only private viewing through our Dyer telescope from 8:30PM-10PM. The focus of this viewing? Saturn at opposition.
What does it mean for Saturn to be at opposition?
Saturn is at opposition when it lies opposite from the Sun in the sky. When at opposition, Saturn is also at perigee – its closest point to Earth. This makes it appear its biggest and brightest, giving incredible potential for viewing.
