Have a wedding day that is unique, romantic, and under the stars.

Our historic location among the pines provides sweeping views of the city below and the skies above. We experience the full range of seasons here in Flagstaff, so our campus is visually stunning year-round. It bursts to life with colorful flowers in the spring and summer, autumn leaves in the fall, and delicate blankets of snow in the winter.

All wedding events include an on-site walk-through, two site visits, access to Lowell Observatory’s general admission for wedding party and guests, and opportunities for exclusive access for wedding photoshoots. Add-ons like portable telescopes, heaters, and gift bags are available for additional fees. Additionally, we offer a venue for your romantic proposal or engagement dinner.

All packages include general admission, excluding the “Plus Up” shows in the Lowell Universe Theater and Dark Sky Planetarium. Tickets to the plus up shows can be purchased at the front desk if desired.

*Lowell Observatory is closed to the public on Tuesdays. Events booked on Tuesdays do not include admission as regular programming is not available.

Clark Telescope Dome Package

Hold an intimate ceremony inside the Ponderosa pine dome of our 1896 Victorian Clark Telescope. You’ll be making your own history next to the telescope that mapped the Moon for the Apollo missions.

Mausoleum Courtyard

The Fine Print

**All wedding packages require an event coordinator (which can be a professional,
family member or friend), event insurance and a licensed bartender if serving alcohol.
Wedding packages include an initial onsite tour and 1 site visit or rehearsal before the
event. Venue access includes set up & take down time. If additional time is needed,
arrangements must be made with the Venue Manager and may have a fee.

All wedding packages will be subject to 2.581% tax.
A 25% non-refundable deposit is due at time of booking for all rentals and packages
with the remaining balance due 60 days prior to the event.

Cancellation Policy:
Lowell Observatory reserves the right to cancel the event at any time. If the
deposit/payment is not received by the agreed upon date, the reservation will
automatically be void, and the venue will become available for others to reserve. All
cancellations must be done in writing and emailed to events@lowell.edu.
The following will apply to those who cancel their event:
31-59 days prior to event – 50% refunded
0-30 days prior to event – 0% refunded

  • Clark Telescope Dome

    Hold your wedding in the telescope dome where Mars was mapped, the first evidence of the expanding universe was found, and mapping of the Moon for the Apollo missions took place! Couples stand in the observing pit during the ceremony, while guests are seated in a semicircle configuration above for optimal viewing.

    This telescope dome features the latest addition to Lowell Observatory’s fleet of public telescopes, the 24″ Dyer Telescope. Outside of the dome is a private courtyard and an unbeatable view of downtown Flagstaff.

    Get married at a National Historic Landmark location! Those seeking a unique outdoor venue will find their perfect storybook setting among the ponderosa pines of Mars Hill, beneath Flagstaff’s breathtaking dark skies.

    This breathtaking outdoor location features a gazebo and a sweeping view of downtown Flagstaff. This venue is best for those with a small, intimate ceremony in mind. Day or night, this quaint gazebo is sure to suit your needs.

    Celebrate your new life together in front of the final resting place of our founder, Percival Lowell. This unique mausoleum was built to resemble the telescope dome that Percival spent much of his nights in.
