Support the Mission of Lowell Observatory
The mission of the Lowell Observatory Foundation is to sustain and enhance research and education at Lowell Observatory by generating perpetual financial support.
Founded in 2015, the Lowell Observatory Foundation seeks to help donors achieve their long-term endowment goals or manage short-term targeted donations. It is a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is governed by an independent board of trustees and dedicated solely to supporting the observatory’s mission.

LOF Endowed Funds
Endowed Research & Exploration Funds
Ensure funding in perpetuity for researchers and their research, instrumentation, and specific astronomical studies via the Lowell Observatory Foundation.
Endowed Education & Outreach Funds
Ensure funding in perpetuity for STEM education and community outreach from Mars Hill to schools in native lands via the Lowell Observatory Foundation.
Endowed Campus & Facilities Funds
Ensure funding in perpetuity for the ongoing maintenance and upgrades of the facilities and campus on Mars Hill via the Lowell Observatory Foundation.
Funds with Few Restrictions
Give to a fund that provides for “immediate” or “best and highest use” situations and allow sfor a flexible use of gifts via the Lowell Observatory Foundation.
The Percival Lowell Trust
Toward the end of his life, Percival Lowell established a trust to support his observatory in perpetuity. Today, the Percival Lowell Trust continues as a separate 501(c)(3) entity that accepts unrestricted gifts to address the greatest areas of benefit to the observatory, funding visionary endeavors like the 4.3-meter Lowell Discovery Telescope (LDT).
